Spotlighting Summer Nail Trends You Need To Know

1 April 2021

The weather is warming up, and new nail trends are surfacing! We’re talking bold colours, intricate details, minimalistic (but creative) designs, and all kinds of shapes. Word on the street is that nails are the new best accessory, and we’re here for it.

As with many things in life, nail trends come and go, but this spring/summer seasons’ trends are not to be missed! So, if you’re curious about what’s in store for your nails, we’re spilling all the tea below.

Wavy Lines But Make It Fashun

First on our list of new nail trends to look out for is the squiggly, wavy line style. This has seen massive popularity recently, and there’s no doubt it’s going anywhere, anytime soon. If you’re into minimalistic designs with a fun twist, going for a bright wavy line or squiggly shape across your nails is a great way to achieve that. You can also get super playful and change up the squiggle across each nail, or even the colour of the squiggles! Super fun, easy, and so wearable.

French Tips With A Splash Of Colour

No matter how creative nail designs become, the French manicure will always be a solid favourite for many. Step into 2021, though, and see how the French mani has transformed into something exciting and versatile. That’s right - long gone are the days of sticking to the classic nude nail and white tip. The new nail trend that’s been getting us all starry-eyed includes super-bright tips, bringing so much life to the usual French mani we’ve always known. If you’re eager to step out of your comfort zone, try going for a modern French mani and sport a different colour on each tip. You won’t regret it!

Abstract Print

You read that right; abstract nails are huge, and mixing it up with a range of colours is even bigger. Picture fairly natural nails with different coloured, abstract shapes and lines across each one. Or even a solid colour on the entire nail accompanied by colourful squiggles spread across. Alternatively, you could turn things down slightly by having only one abstract shape or line per nail, but either way, it’s a fun trend, and you should definitely consider jumping on the bandwagon.

Mismatched Nails

This might not be for those who prefer some uniformity on their nails because this nail trend can get very funky, very fast. However, the mismatched nail trend is making waves and wearing different colours, shapes, and patterns on each nail are becoming more and more adored. If you like the sound of this and don’t mind a little chaos, you may want to check this one out. It’s the perfect option if you don’t like choosing one design or colour, seeing as you can go wild on each nail. Basically, you get the best of all worlds.

Checkerboard Patterns Taking Centre Stage

This is one nail trend we can’t leave out. Checkerboard nails are having a real moment, and for good reason - they’re fun and can be personalised easily. Whether you go for a typical black and white checkerboard pattern covering only a portion of your nail, or if you go full-on with a checkerboard of various colours, you can get creative or keep it fairly basic too. If this all sounds like a lot, opt for an accent nail where you’d only have a checkerboard on one nail, on each hand.

Clothed In Velvet (Nails)

Velvet is no longer just another material. This new nail trend has us all craving that glimmering, shiny effect, perfectly mimicking the fabric we’re all familiar with. If you’re on the fence about this one, though, just know that this trend doesn’t mimic the real feel of velvet. It works in harmony with light and gives off that mesmerising sparkle. We’re on board!

Candy-Coloured Pastels

Finally, the pastel nail trend is one of the biggest hits and is set to stay. This trend has really boasted some gorgeous variations, from pastel tips and shapes to hands sporting a different shade on each nail. The pastel shades are perfect for easing yourself into trying out brighter colours, and it offers such a great playful option to those who may prefer more muted tones. If anything, it’s really just plain fun!

There you have it, some of our favourite new nail trends for the spring and summer of 2021. We’re all for the funky patterns and bright colours, so these are definitely up our street! It’s pretty clear that the primary trend among all of these is to have fun and get silly with your nails. There’s never been a better time to experiment, and we’re all cheering you on to enjoy the process!
